Salvatore Cirillo
Salvatore Cirillo, 81, a lifelong resident of Kenilworth, died Aug.
29 in Overlook Hospital, Summit. Mr. Cirillo received a master’s
degree in education from Seton Hall University, South Orange. He
served in the Army during peacetime. Prior to his retirement in
1979, Mr. Cirillo was employed with the Manville Board of Education
as its superintendent of schools. He was a current member of the
Kenilworth Planning Board. He previously had served as its
chairperson. Mr. Cirillo also was a member of the Kenilworth
Historical Society and the Kenilworth Senior Citizens Club. He was
a retired member of the Kenilworth Volunteer Fire Department and a
special police officer in Kenilworth and had served on the
Kenilworth Board of Education. Surviving is a sister, Lucille
Monahan. The Opacity Funeral Home, Kenilworth, handled the
arrangements.
Pauline Scheidegger
Pauline W. Scheidegger, 87, of Kenilworth died Aug. 19 in Genesis,
Westfield. Born in Madison, Mrs. Scheidegger moved to Kenilworth in
1946. Surviving are two sons, Harold and Mark; two daughters,
Debbie Scheidegger and Lori Pantano, and seven grandchildren.
John Lafferty Jr.
John E. Lafferty Jr., 72, of Kenilworth died Aug. 30 in Robert Wood
Johnson University Hospital. Mr. Lafferty served in the Marine
Corps from 1956 to 1958. He worked in the purchasing department of
Public Service from 1958 to 1996 and later at Magruder Color Co.
from 1996 to 2003. Mr. Lafferty was a golfer and a member of
Plainfield West for 21 years. Surviving are his wife of 48 years,
Elizabeth; a son, Richard; a daughter, Patricia Stahl; a sister,
Eileen Winne, and two grandchildren. The Higgins and Bonner Echo
Lake Funeral Home, Westfield, handled the arrangements.
